Jun 07, 2004 I have been asked to design some standard truss parallel chord frames, with allowable spans for particular belt widths. The trusses are to carry limestone and coal, and are to be designed to support all the bells and whistles, (walkways, hoods, idlers, pull-stops, and electrical).
Jul 30, 2003 RE: Belt Conveyor Truss Design dbuzz (Structural) 30 Jul 03 19:39 My experience (nickel, iron ore, copper and gold mining/processing plants) is that belt tension loads are typically resisted by the head-end, take-up and tail-end structures, which …
Conveyor belt simply ran between the two truss ends with rollers close to the ends of each truss. Very high 4.5kPa wind loads from memory as subject to cyclones. We didn't have any continuous trusses over trestles, I think that just creates problems if trestles go in too high/low with alignment/tolerances and assumptions on loading to each support.

May 17, 2014 Experts, What standard do your companies use in the design of the structures that support belt conveyors? The structural verification itself isn't really an issue. The loads and load combinations, however, can create some interesting discussions. The belt conveyor isn't a building to be designed as per ASCE 7-05 or AISE Nr 13 and neither is a mobile machine to comply with ISO 5049 …
